One Year Anniversary – thanks to you!
with a special thanks to a bunch of you, listed below…
Well, this is my One-Year Anniversary. I set up the Parlor of Horror blog on December 9th, 2011. My first official horror post on December 13th was this one:
The Remake Scoreboard / Horror Icons
Many bloggers that had started around the same time as I have waned and don’t post anymore. Others have grown to much larger audiences. I really don’t mind. I only post when I want, which is about twice a week. I only write about what I want to write about. It is much more enjoyable than when I wrote for magazines and other websites where I had deadlines, assignments, and had to review crap I didn‘t like.
I’m not here to make money from traffic on the site or promote stuff for payola. I am only here because I am a fan of the horror genre. I like to discover films I’d like to see, compare my ideas with others who like the genre, and perhaps give some ideas of films/books others may want to check out. I like horror books and horror novels. I like horror short-stories. I like horror art. I like horror stuff!
For those of you who don’t know, my name is Mike. You can call me Mike or you can call me POH.
I would like to give a shout out to all who continue to read my blog and those who ‘like’ and comment on my posts the most. It’s good to know that we share some of the same ideas and even that we disagree on things – I appreciate just knowing you have read the posts and have an opinion on them.
My fave reads and readers:
Mistylane from Cinema Schminema
Wednesday’s Child from Deep Red Rum
Jmount from Written in Blood(was the first one to like my very first post),
Goregirl from Goregirl’s Dungeon (manages to review some movies I haven’t seen)
Vic from Vic’s Movie Den
Tim from Tim’s film reviews
Emma from the horrifically horrifying horror blog
Matt from Horror Novel Reviews
Tyson from Head in a Vice
Renae from the paranormalist
Andy from Andy Watches Movies
Laura from FU Only Knew
My favorite posts that I blogged in the past year:
The Legacy of Kong – Big Gorilla goes Ape! – movie reviews
The Scariest Classic Witches in film
My Top 10 Horror-Comedies of All Time
Ouija boards & Witchboards – fact or fiction – part I
Stephen King – Full Dark, No Stars – book review
Favorite search term that led to one of my posts:
‘that crazy guy at the office’ search led to my post:
My Work Is Not Yet Done – Thomas Ligotti – book review
(as soon as I saw this I put it as one of my tags)
I’ve updated my blogroll – added some new, retired some inactive blogs. Thanks for tuning in for the past year.
Congratulations on one year!! 🙂 You have a great site full of fun and horror.
Thanks, just updated the post to put links on the page to everybody’s blogs.
Congrats on the year!!! Thanks for the shout out, feelings are mutual, always read your stuff and look forward to plenty more! 🙂
Congrats on anniversary 😀
Thanks a lot, Mike! Here’s to next year!
thanks Andy, keep up the fine work your doing!
Congratulations! One year down and many more to come! I had no idea I was the first to like the first. That makes me feel damn special!
it was special to me cause the first time I posted I asked myself, “Is anyone even gonna read this?” Then I was like, “Yeah, I got a like!” (or something like that).
I believe that was my reaction the first time I got one.
Thanks for the mention and happy anniversary! Keep writing…
Congratulations on the blogiversary.
thanks, many more I hope.
Congrats! One year huh? Man, time flies. Thanks for the recognition and keep up the awesome work. Your blog is unique, informative and very entertaining. But most of all it’s heartfelt and sincere. It’s always fun to drop in and read your stuff. Kudos! Here’s to year Numero Dos! 😀
Wow. Happy One Year! Thanks for the awesome mention, I feel the same. It’s always fun to see what you’re up to and find out what’s good.
Here’s to another year of horror hunting!
Thanks, the hunt be on!
Well done! Always an interesting read. Keep it up in 2013 🙂
Thanks. I just realized your posts aren’t showing up in my ‘reader’. I’m going to unsubscribe and re-subscribe, that usually fixes the problem.
Well I moved mine from wordpress.com to wordpress.org so that I could have a .co.uk site. Still trying to figure it all out, so that may be my fault 🙂
