The Faculty (1998)
The Breakfast Club meets Aliens. Jon Stewart eats a bad shrimp with tentacles and turns into a zombie alien teacher. The alien teachers hound the breakfast club kids so much, the kids turn to drugs. Elijah Woods would have been hysterical to party with. Is that Usher playing football? (Better than his acting.) Liquid metal from T2 works with Costanza’s boss at K-UGER Industrial Smoothing, to zobify all the teachers. Framke gives some crazy tongue action. Points taken off for making Selma Hayek look so plain. Cthulhu squid monster rules! Wonder drug kills aliens dead – ‘Raid’ apparently a main ingredient. Moral to the story, drugs is good. No homework for the weekend kids, yeah!
Directed by Robert Rodriguez
Stars Josh Hartnett, Elijah Woods, Shawn Hatosy, Jordana Brewster, Clea DuVall, Laura Harris, Robert Patrick, Bebe Neuwirth and Piper Laurie. (plus others already mentioned)
A little hokey but in the end there’s one great tentacled monster!
I give it a 3.8 out of 5 on the Dagon Scale of Cthulhu worthy movies.
God it’s been ages since I last saw this.
It has been SO long since I’ve seen this, lol.
I’ve grown to like this movie more and more over the years. I used to own a copy on dvd but I misplaced it. I think it’s on Netflix currently. I may catch up on it there. Good review. Right to the point! Thanks.
I haven’t seen it. But it sounds like I need to. 😉
Not sure how I missed seeing this one. I’ll be looking for it this weekend. 😀
This is a pretty fun little movie. And I love that gif of the lady with her new octopus-ish body. Well done!
Did I mention this is currently on Netflix? and that’s where I watched it a few night’s ago.
Knowing that this is a Rodriguez flick, it’s a bit disappointing considering how original and crazy he can be. However, here, it felt more like he was on auto-pilot where I couldn’t really tell if he really cared about having this material jump off of the screen or not. Good review.
I remember watching this on VHS probably shortly after it came out. It was alright, I made it through the whole thing and remember being entertained enough.
Yeah, the monster at the end made up for the lack of real suspense and the teenage drama storyline 🙂
No more pencils, no more books.
School’s out, for summer,
School’s out completely…….
Alice Cooper, circa 1974
I like the Gwar version 😉
Lol, I don’t think I prefer the Gwar version of anything, unless they’re playing it live 🙂
