Those other Shark Attack Movies – in preperation for Sharknado 2
aka: My Big-ass list of shark movies!
Sharknado 2 is premiering on July 30th, so I thought it would be a great time to take a look at those other shark movies. The films here range from decent thrillers (very few) to poorly-written CGI debacles, to all out hokey-campy fodder.
Don’t forget, as Tara Reid says, “This can really happen!” so it’s important to watch Sharknado for realistic ideas on how to survive…

There are more… but there’s only so much time in a day!
Many of these are guilty pleasures of mine. It’s hard to hate a bad shark movie.
It’s the ‘Plan-9 From Outer Space’ syndrome. You can’t stop watching even though you know it’s a train-wreck 🙂
That describes half my home video library!
I’ll admit it. I’m watching Malibu Shark Attack right now and have had Scy Fy on all day. I recognize a lot of the scenes you’ve shown and I believe I’ve seen just about every movie you mentioned. I love my B movies! One I’m going to have to check on is Up From the Depths. Not sure if I’ve seen that one.
Have you read the ‘Meg’ series by Steve Alten. They are finally making the movie. He also has other creatures, these kroc things. It should be fun.
Lol, I’ve been watching them on and off all weekend, I couldn’t believe there were so many different movies. That’s what prompted me to do this list. Dinoshark is my fave 🙂 Up from the Depths, I think I saw that as a teen in the movies. Great White was sued by Universal because it was so close to Jaws. It’s banned from being released in the US. I’m curious about that one, too.
Are you going to watch Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda? I believe it comes on Thursday? Will have to check so I don’t miss it.
Hope to catch that one too!
I dont watch a lot of shark movies because frankly the idea of being eating by one scares me. Yet I still want to watch a good cheesy shark movie. What do you recommend to a beginner
Sorry about the delay in replying, your comment went to my spam folder which is weird because I follow you. Anywho, I would definitely try Sharknado 2 because its so ridiculous, there’s no chance of it ever happening in real life, and I think they really got the comedic aspects honed on this one which makes it more fun to watch than many of the others. Any Sharktopus flick would be good too, once again because its far enough removed from reality that it can’t really be scary.
I saw a bunch of these cheap at Wal-mart and considered getting some, but really couldn’t see myself watching them more than one time a piece.
There are so many movies. Watching them one time a piece would be maybe all we need and have time for. If only they made them more accessible!
Possibly but I also have so many other films I’ve already bought but have yet to watch.
I get a lot of DVDs I’m not sure about at the Library – they let me take them out for a week if they’re not new releases. Its better than buying them and not liking them.
Sharks!!!
*shutters* 2 Headed Shark Attack…
Love Deep Blue Sea and The Reef 🙂
