Skin Job – sex, drugs, tattoos and mad monster violence!

wingsofdarkness

There’s only 2 weeks until the release of my novelette, Skin Job

More than a horror story, Skin Job is a story about failing at something big in life… It reflects a personal experience, but one that I think a lot of us go through at one point in our lives. Hopefully, most people deal with failure better than the character in my book.

I’ll explain more soon, for now I’d like to invite you to my

SKIN JOB page at Parlor of Horror

Please take a look and leave comments about what you like, what you think I should add, and what you think I should change. The big question is,

Does this sound like a book you’d be interested in reading?

I respect your opinions fellow bloggers, so tell it to me straight.

Skin Job
A NY tattoo artist in a failing business conjures a demon to destroy a rival tattoo artist, unaware of the price he will have to pay for his deed.

Car Nex is a demon created by Terry M West in his book, What Price Gory. In subsequent years, authors have submitted their stories involving the Car Nex (Carnivore form the Nexus), creating a larger universe and mythos pertaining to the creature. Each story stands on its own and reading the other stories is not required to understand the separate tales.

Skin Job is my contribution to the larger mythos of the Car Nex series

Night Things – by Terry M. West – Book review

Night Things – Dracula vs. Frankenstein

Night Things - Terry M WestBy Terry M West

Pleasant Storm Entertainment

Night things is populated with familiar monsters given new life, meaning and motivation by the skilled pen of Mr. West. It is the first story I have read in a long time that has kept me awake into the early hours of morning because I didn’t want to put it down. One more page, one more chapter, I had told myself frequently while reading this and I kept reading with heavy eyes, but eager heart. It is a complex interwoven tale that reveals different story lines from each of the main characters.

It is modern times and the monster brethren has grown in numbers to a population that could no longer stay hidden. There is a thin truce between mankind and monsters held together by one-sided laws that protect humans but let’s the monsters be exploited without protest. Gary Hack is a porn film director with a nasty drug habit that made a name for himself by making monster porn/snuff films. He works under the protection of monster underground crime boss Johnny Stucke. In another age, Johnny was labeled, Frankenstein’s Monster and banished from the world of man, but he worked his way back intoNight Things - Terry M West - Johnny cover civilization and built a strong domain catering to the darker human cravings in NYC. But now he has a new nemesis, an ancient evil that wants to wipe out mankind and Johnny’s kingdom along with them. The monster’s name is Dracula, and he has amassed an army of the undead to take down Johnny and then mankind in a sweeping war. He just needs to get into Johnny’s inner lair and that’s where Gary Hack comes into play. Gary is now being used by both parties as a double agent and will have his life torn apart by the ultimate monster battle, unless he can figure out a way to save his daughter, the only thing that matters to him in life, and fool both warring parties to gain his escape.

This is a finely written, fast paced tale that may have you choosing sides or loathing the hero, but either way you will be enthralled and motivated to keep the pages turning. It pits the famous monsters against each other while exposing the shady underbelly of the big city. I happen to enjoy the novellette sized story, it’s long enough to get an in-depth look at characters, but it’s still lean and doesn’t stray from the core story. Great reading for the horror fan that likes some gritty reality in their stories and a modern twist on familiar monsters.

My novelette, SKIN JOB accepted by publisher for eBook release

SKIN JOB by Michael Thomas-Knight chosen for Terry M. West’s Car-Nex Project

I guess you could call this my first book publishing deal. Terry M West’s publishing company, Pleasant Storm Entertainment, has accepted my story ‘Skin Job’ to be included in the Car-Nex series of books. The novelette will be released in 2016 as part of the related story series originated by Terry’s story, Night of the Car-Nex.

More about the he Car-Nex series:
Select writers were invited to create an original story featuring the demon creature Terry invented and first wrote about in his tale, Night of the Car-Nex. The story of this conjured beast was originally published in his top-selling short-story collection, What Price Gory. Car-Nex is short for Carnivore from the Nexus and stands as the unifying thread in the subsequent book series. Much like Lovecraft’s Necronomicon, which had shown up in many other stories and mediums, The Car-Nex creature lives on in these separate tales.

My story will be released as its own Kindle book. It can be read as a stand alone piece and you don’t have to read the other tales to know what is happening. They are not chronologically connected.

However readers are also enjoying the series as a whole, purchasing other tales and seeing how different writers approach the same subject matter.
Prior to the release of SKIN JOB, you may want to read Terry’s original story, Night of the Car Nex from the What Price Gory? Collection.

You can also check out the other books in the series which have been released at different times during the year.

Cecil and Bubba Meet The Thang – book review

cecil and bubba meet the thang

Cecil and Bubba Meet The Thang
by Terry M. West

A 50’s style sci-fi alien movie crossed with a modern duo reminiscent of Abbott & Costello, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, or Dale & Tucker, describes this tale fairly accurately. Fun, fun, fun. These guy’s may not be the smartest, but they make up for it with heart. Originally beginning as a short story in West’s short story collection, What Price Gory, it was clear that Cecil and Bubba had more adventures ahead of them. They are comical characters that we can all learn something from. The Aliens have landed but luckily our boys are ready to whoop some Martian ass! The novelette is fast-paced and enjoyable reading for the fan of low-brow horror. You don’t have to be familiar with the original story to read this one because it explains all the particulars you need to know. Look forward to more tales about these two comrades from Pleasant Storm, TX.
