Horror Art and Music – part II – extreme metal calls for extreme art

Extreme metal bands, in the form of death metal, black metal and thrash, have always managed to garner the most horrific album covers and CD art. Their intention is to evoke shock and disgust from the general public. They dare to go places with their music and subsequently their CD cover art, where no one has previously ventured.

Here is a collection of CD art through the years, including the outrageous, Cannibal Corpse covers.

This is some extremely horrific artwork. Think about if these images were moving pictures, present in today’s horror films. They are far more horrifically advanced than the horror films we are presented with every year. Take it one step further and imagine these images are real – that when you entered a room or left your home, some of these scenes are what lay before you. Imagine some of these nightmare creatures chasing you… pleasant dreams!
